Dr. Jeff Brumfield has been a faculty member at the University of Texas at Austin for 22 years,
where he currently serves as Associate Dean for Information Technology. He received his M.S.
and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from Purdue University.
At the University of Texas, Dr.
Brumfield has taught undergraduate and graduate level courses on operating systems,
performance analysis, distributed systems, and data structures.
He is the recipient of six teaching excellence awards.
Dr. Brumfield's research interests include discrete event simulations, bottleneck analysis,
analytic solution of queuing network models, and performance of client/server systems.
Dr. Brumfield has provided seminars, training, and consulting services to companies including
IBM, Motorola, GTE, Cray Research, British Telecom, NCR, State Farm, SAIC, Charles Schwab, MCC, Mesquite Software, and Simulus.
